I gathered my stuff from my tree, got down and reloaded the muzzy. As i walked up i was in disbelief that a deer that I had hunted hard for 3 years, over a hundred sits, from 80 degree early season hunts to minus 30 late season hail Mary's, burning PTO, and investing countless weekends in the pursuit of a southern Minnesota stud, he was laying right in front of me. Very grateful for the opportunity to chase this buck and fill my tag and my freezer. Green score of 153 4/8 over 5 inch bases and over 4 inches of mass throughout. Just from guessing I would think this buck is about 6 years old. For southern Minnesota, with an average deer age of 2, he's a relic. This old dude has a spot already picked out for him in the wall. Left the successful calling card in the field for the coyotes and critters and that is a hell of a feeling to close out my season

Great story, appreciate the details. I can't tell you how many times I've spooked deer on my way to the stand only to kill one minutes later. They just don't always spook that hard.

@Kyle im pretty sure the deer that blew was a forky or a doe near that bedding, but getting out to the stand with an hour to kill has always been the ticket for me, but I agree, it's not always doom and gloom when you hear a deer blow

Hunting whitetail deer is favorite thing to do in the outdoors, but I also enjoy fishing, bird hunting, riding atv, really anything that gets me out of the house and out in nature and showing my kids the gifts of the outdoors every step of the way.
