  • Not bad at all. Next year tell some of your friends that you want to practice mounting more deer. That way you ll have a few more to practice on. That’s how I got my start 30 years ago!

    @Chappel I did but none of them wanted to be first and I don’t blame them. A few have already said they might let me give it a try after seeing my first two.

  • I’m talking about anyone you know who shoots a buck that they DO NOT want to mount. Maybe you can practice on those deer. Even does, you should be able to get a few does to practice on. Forget about them horns! Lol. Concentrate on proper ear butt size and shape, eye lids, tear ducts etc. Get yourself some good reference photos. There are some decent sites like taxidermy.net where you ll find tons of info.
