    Nice!! That bismuth dealt some death! 💪👊

    @Mike yessir! If I do my job it does its! Can't say the same for the steel on the cranes, they are so tough

  • Derek's avatar

    Well done, man! I draw tags every year and never get on them, although I have a feeling that I know where some might be heading and I think I got a way to get in on them.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Derek heck yeah, hope you knock a few down, they are awesome birds!

    @Appalachian no doubt. Steel has done more harm than lead in my opinion. I’m really surprised that the libs haven’t outlawed steel yet.

  • Mike's avatar

    @Derek let’s change that!🤪

  • Derek's avatar

    @Mike working on it! You all going to join me?

    We need a season on them in Fl. It’ll probably never happen though. We got em everywhere, but after the bear season fiasco in 2015 I doubt we’ll ever get it. Just too damn many city folk in Fl

  • Mike's avatar

    @Derek I’m digging into how the permit system works as we type🤪

  • Derek's avatar

    @Mike I know how it works for residents, but I'm not sure about nonresidents. Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to get one for this season. That's for Kentucky. I'm not sure about Tennessee.

  • Mike's avatar

    @Derek I’m sure it’s a whole different ballgame. I’ll dig into both, wouldn’t be any time soon I’m betting.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Mike no doubt, I couldn't tell you how many birds I've seen get knocked sideways and get gone. I wish tungsten was more affordable.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Derek yeah, I'm not sure how it goes for non res here either. I'd assume a small game hunt/fish combo, then waterfowl then pay to put in for the quota draw. How many cranes can you take there?

  • Derek's avatar

    @Appalachian about the same as it probably is done here if I had to guess. Here, you apply. Then they decide if you get drawn. No point system, just completely random and you either get 1 or 2 tags. Again, that part is completely random. It's always been an odd system in my opinion.

    Congrats killers.... thats some beauty's!!! Do they truly earn the nickname" the ribeye of the sky"??? Never had a chance to try any!!!

  • Stephon's avatar

    Rib-eye of the sky! Congrats!

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Turbo Definitely not as much fat in the meat as beef but close enough to call it that. Honestly if you've never had it, beaver loin isn't too far from before either. We are just on a summer sausage kick lately in fact I'm thinking about trapping a few beaver to make some out of

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Stephon thanks man

  • Turbo's avatar

    @Appalachian ..... I'll definitely have to try the beaver loin 🦫 ...... thanks for the tip!!!! congrats again bud!!!! 👊🤠👍

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Turbo Thanks man 👊

  • David's avatar

    that's awesome! I've never had them but I hear they are extremely tasty. they're a neat critter for sure. congrats on a good hunt!

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @David yessir! Thanks, you hear them in your sleep after spending a day under them

  • Chuck's avatar

    I found out last year that the ones we have in Florida are a subspecies that don’t migrate and that’s why we don’t have a season. Great job, always heard they were tasty.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Chuck that's pretty interesting, I guess there's no reason to leave down there since the Temps stay warm

  • Chuck's avatar

    @Appalachian yeah we see and hear them all year long. Babies will start showing up soon. There’s a bunch that live on a golf course near my house. I saw one get its head ran over trying to run and take off in front of a car that kept going. If there hadn’t been other cars and people everywhere, I wanted to take and eat it but it’s highly illegal to get caught with one so I didn’t.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Chuck dang I understand that, it's the right thing to do but not worth the potential legal trouble.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Chuck dang, not worth the potential trouble

  • Chuck's avatar

    @Appalachian yeah it sucks when you get stuck in between what’s right and what’s legal.

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @Chuck yupp

  • GVS's avatar

    One bird I've not hunted yet. Gotta do that some day

  • Appalachian's avatar

    @GVS it's quite an experience if you get under a bunch of birds
