Excellent!! I gave it a try also when I lived in Montana. I mostly caught weeds.😆 My teacher clearly wasn't as good as yours😄

Today’s adult recess was more like a field trip. And it felt a lot like a mental health day. Philippe (@Phil Trouillot ) has been egging me on to take up fly fishing. In a lot of ways it makes sense as to why I’d do it. I bit the bullet and dove in today. So happy I did.

We visited the Floyd Fork at two separate parks near Louisville today. The scenery was beautiful. The weather had a spring in its step and the fish were out to play! I couldn’t have had a better introduction to fly fishing. Philippe is a great teacher. 

I caught three fish today (and released them): two rainbow trout, one chub. The first picture is of me with the second trout. The first trout I caught is held like someone who clearly hadn’t handled a fish since they were 11. There is no picture of the chub. 

I’m so excited to see what the future holds on the angling front. It’s fun. It also gives me a way to combine wild game harvesting with my long time passion for backcountry camping/hiking much sooner than I expected. Hauling a deer or elk back to camp through the wilderness is a much different ballgame than bringing back a few fish.

In the words of Ice Cube, “today was a good day.”
