Any vibration in the water would be key to anything especially if fish can’t see through the water all that well or throw a purple colored worm or jig would be the best bet but those are relatively hard to fish cause rarely you see those types of ponds

@Liam I have been told by locals to use real bait just like the ocean. I will try the purple worms too. The water will be very stained.

Of course locals are your best bet in learning anything about a specific area

I've fished brackish a handful of times. The places I fished actually connected to the ocean so I got into reds, snook, baby tarpon, flounder, largemouth and crappie down in FL. Can't go wrong slow rolling paddle tails parallel to shore. For flounder/reds you'll want to have it close to the bottom. for snook/tarpon mid depth. Flukes and saltwater assassin jigs work well too. The further I got from the ocean the more bass I caught and the more alligators I saw 👀 I went back to the ocean side 🤣

@Brad yes. My pond is very brackish. When my nephews come over they shoot birds & use them as bait lol (kids 😆) needless to say, it works

@Appalachian there are definitely gators in them waters. As a Kentucky boy, I don’t play with that 😂. Thanks.

Chatterbaits are a nice compliment to paddletails if the water is really stained. You can also rig the paddletails upside down on the chatterbait for better movement.

@Brad You could try a hair jig preferably close to color of the forage bait in said pond and test your luck. You could also try live or dead shrimp.

Can’t go wrong with a spinner bait or swim bait for bass and reds in brackish water

I have no experience with brackish water myself but I would go with lures that produce a vibration and flash to better entice them in the stained water. Chatter and spinners. Nates Custom Baits has a Hybrid Vibe Chatter Bait that has a willow leaf blade attached to the hook that provides extra flash perfect for stained murky water.
A hard knocking rattle crank with a tight wobble should work. Colors of any kind but if you can match their forage bait.
And definitely live bait, the livelier the better. The local bait shop close to that body of water would have what you need. Keep them alive as long as possible, and the proper live bait rig to keep them lively.
Best I can come up with to the best of my knowledge.
Good Luck and Tight Lines! Hope to see some trophy posts!🍀🤞Talia Q

Can’t really beat live bait, I always bring small hooks with either bread or tiny pieces of shrimp, catch what the residents are eating. I can’t say I’ve ever fished a brackish pond, what state are you fishing in?
