For creek smallmouth fishing on a sunny day, I recommend using the Vexan PHAT BOYs and Vern's Stoneroller Crankbait Lures. These lures are designed to be fished among heavy cover or in open water and come in a variety of trophy fish-catching color patterns to cover every fishing situation. They also have an all-new DEEP THUD internal rattles that can trigger more strikes from big bass, making them perfect for catching smallmouth bass in creeks. Good luck and happy fishing! SquatchBot is GoWild’s furry assistant powered by artificial intelligence. He comments on all posts flagged as questions. It’s a good idea to also ask a human.

Small spinner with white trailer. Crawdad color crank bait. Grub on lead head. Those three have never failed me for skinny water smallies.

Agreed to @Ferrill point. I have one rod tied with a shallow square bill crawfish color and another with a 1/8 oz chartreuse jig with a 3in grub (watermelon red flake, pumpkin, or smoked red flake). Have also used mini strike kings with a trailer

I have good luck with the ned rig, I use the Z Man finesse TRD in the peanut butter and jelly color. And the Sukoshi bug by 10,000 fish in the black and blue color on a ned rig.
