Professional Angler John Hunter Joins GoWild Team

GoWild™ is expanding with the addition of Bassmaster Elite Series pro angler, John Hunter. The Kentucky native joins the team as Chief Strategy Officer and is a partner with the company.

Hunter is a two-time Bassmaster Elite Series pro and was the 2015 Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Co-Angler of the Year. In addition to being one of the top anglers in the world, he’s also a dedicated big game hunter and has several years of experience in working with one of the largest fishing apps in the world.

"I'm extremely excited to join the team," said Hunter. "GoWild offers us outdoorsmen and women a community that isn’t available on any other social platform, which is really what drew me in." 

Hunter said he loves that the app is not only about sharing your story but being rewarded for it as you participate in the outdoors. "It really gives us a chance to fully appreciate and gauge how involved each person is in the wild, and encourages people to get outside," Hunter said.

GoWild's Co-Founders saw Hunter as someone who could have an immediate impact on the app. 

"John has had a finger on the pulse of the fishing industry for years, and he understands the demands of the modern angler,” said GoWild Co-Founder and CEO, Brad Luttrell. “Beyond his outdoorsman skill set and professional status, this guy is just really sharp and has great instincts. We’re lucky to snag him.” 

Hunter got hooked on fishing at a young age. He spent his life sharpening his skills, before attending Georgetown College on a baseball scholarship. After a few years, Hunter missed his true passion and decided to return to fishing. Hunter finished college with back to back years where he ranked in the top 5 in the country amongst all college anglers, per the collegiate ranking system. Upon graduating from Georgetown College with Cum Laude honors and a degree in finance, he decided to chase his dream of being a pro angler.

In that first year on tour, Hunter won the FLW Co-Angler of the year title and also qualified to fish the Bassmaster Elite Series via the Bassmaster Northern Opens. He also scored 5 FLW top 10 finishes that season. Hunter is now competing on the Bassmaster Elite Series and is a well known name in the professional sport of bass fishing.

Hunter will be at the official GoWild launch party in Lexington, Ky. on October 26. The team will have John's official truck on site, and be giving away hundreds of shirts, decals, hats and official GoWild tactical bags. 

"This app is going to be a game changer and I’m ready to see this thing go wild," Hunter said. "I hope folks will come out and celebrate the start of something special."
